Back Pain Relief
Heat Therapy and Back Pain Relief
There are many back pain relief remedies that you can administer and control by yourself. Often, it’s useful to know about some remedies that can fit into your daily routine to help manage your back pain.Warmth and heat have always been associated with comfort and relaxation, and heat therapy goes a step further to provide back pain relief and healing benefits for many causes of lower back pain. Applying heat to sore or strained muscles increases the blood circulation in those muscles, which both relaxes them and aids the muscle tissue in healing itself. Permanent back pain relief will, of course, come from allowing the back to heal. Heat therapy – applying heating pads, heat wraps, hot baths, warm gel packs, etc. - is inexpensive and easy to do, and can bring about immediate back pain relief. Using heat to achieve back pain relief will not only brighten your day, but it will also allow greater ease of movement and ultimately a happier back.
Cold Therapy and Back Pain Relief
For those of us with busy schedules, back pain can cause untold complications and therefore relief from that back pain is a very good thing. If that relief is available at home and on our own time, then it is a much better thing. Cold therapy, like heat therapy, can be administered anywhere and at any time, and can be as inexpensive as you want it to be. If your back pain is the result of inflamed muscles or pinched nerves, then applying cold compresses or ointments can provide immediate back pain relief by decreasing the inflammation and therefore the pain. Some patients find that they achieve better levels of back pain relief by alternating heat and cold therapy on the same spot. Alternating the two therapies will relax the muscle and then decrease the inflammation. If a pinched or compressed nerve is the source of the back pain, then relief will come when the muscles are no longer inflamed and therefore not putting pressure on that nerve. Cold therapy will not ultimately heal the source of your back pain, but a relaxed back will heal much easier than a painful one. Cold therapy is an effective and convenient method for back pain relief, and can be an aide to healing your back as well.
